Please visit Riki Jewelry

One of my favorite blogs (and people) is Riki Schumacher.  I had the pleasure of taking a class with her at Adorn Me! 2010 in Houston.  What an awesome experience it was for all of us.  She is a wonderful teacher and a beautiful person.  Please visit her blog and check out the "romantic relics" in Riki's Etsy shop.

My little Christmas tree

I have been so busy these past few weeks. I haven't had time to put up a "real" Christmas tree. So I put up a fun tabletop tree. My 19 year old son isn't "feeling it" but its sooooo me.  Make sure you click on the images to zoom my Christmas tree so you can see all the details.  The ballet shoes were mine as a child wannabe ballerina. The toe shoes are from Woodstock Antiques, the shop Queen of the Nest will be moving into January first. (More to come about that later)  The burlap and tulle wreaths that are displayed together over my mantle were made by my friend Caroline.  The tussy mussy on my tree was made by Lisa.  Contact me if you'd like to order a wreath or a Tussy Mussy and I can put you in touch with either one of them.  If you're local, visit the Southern Antique Gallery and look for the Queen of the Nest booth.  I have done very little decorating but I like that what I have done can stay through January after things slow down a little.   Merry Christmas everyone!

Homesteaders Metalsmithing

I've been taking Stephanie Lee's Online Homesteaders Metalsmithing class.  What an awesome class this is for anyone who would love to learn basic metalsmithing skills.  Stephanie is an incredible teacher, her videos are awesome.  We have a yahoo group with great comments, advice, tips and a connection.

Here's a sample of some work from the class.  It's not all completed yet.  I'm hoping to break out the resin in a few days.

Not Perfect, But I love this.

And a couple of finished pieces, Not from Stephanie's class, but I like them.

Click on these to enlarge so that you can see them better.
And my Stick pendant with a Kate McKinnon Flower pod.

Productive Week!

IMAG0028

Finally!  I feel some creativity slowly creeping in.  I've been in such a rut lately.  I've met a great group of women at the Bead Bug in Alpharetta.  We met for our first get together a couple of weeks ago.  We'll be meeting again in a couple more weeks and I can't wait!

Stephanie Lee's Homesteaders Metalsmithing class starts the 9th, I'm getting REALLY excited about that.

I sent off my registration for Art Unraveled's Adorn Me! 2011 and I got all my first choice classes.

Things are looking up!  I'll be posting more pictures soon of other things that I have made in the last week.  I'm so happy to be back in the swing of things.  Please give me feedback if you've stumbled across my pictures and let me know what you think!  I'll be posting more soon.
